Paris, The Beginning

Paris. I’ll always remember Paris, as it is our honeymoon spot, and it is actually the first time I went overseas, love it that my first time outside Malaysia (Phnom Penh does not count anyway, haha!) with Adam.

We arrived at Charles De Gaulle Airport after 12 long hour’s flight; thank god it was a night flight, as we reached Paris early in the morning so we certainly did not waste any time. After making sure Abg Yeen and the kids are okay, we went our separate ways, us to Gare du Nord where our tiny apartment is located and them to Champs Elysees.

I love the neighbourhood. The abundance of supermarket and halal food shop along the stretch, we are definitely at a safe place. There’s McDonalds like few minutes’ walk from our apartment, the central station for metro (Gare de Est) are also 5 minutes away. Our apartment was just nice for us two. I guess it’s sort of like a studio apartment as we have one bedroom, and the funny thing about that apartment was that, the toilet is separated from the bathroom. Quite funny I must say but good experience.  It was a lovely apartment by the way. It is owned by Sarah, lovely person although when we got there, we were greeted by the boyfriend (Hugo) instead. The only downside is that we have to go up 3 storeys by stairs. Haha! Thank god we didn’t have that much luggage.

After a much needed rest, we got excited to visit the supermarkets and halal food shops. We then proceed to go to Galleries La Fayette, the famous shopping malls in Paris. There it is quite interesting to note that unlike in Malaysia where both gender’s things can be found in one mall, there they separate the malls according to genders; Homme for Men and Femme for Women. But I would say the malls are small, so it’s not that tiring to go through few malls in one day.  We didn’t buy anything there, as it is only the first day and we intend to shop more at the outlets. We then meet up with Abg Yeen and the kids, and returned to Champ Elysees.

Champs Elysees is one the must go place in Paris, it is one of the most famous street and the stretch of shops, cafes, cinemas and etc. runs about 1.91 km! There, we have two famous French monuments, both at each end of the stretch, Arc de Triomphe and Place de la Concorde. We tried walking to Place de la Concorde, it seems not that far, but please do not underestimate the distance. It took us quite a while to reach there, and once there, we’re so happy we get to see the most famous monument in Paris, the Eiffel Tower although it’s like teeny weeny small. Haha.

That pretty much wraps up our first day in Paris.

Paris I'm in Love

Bonjour! 

Monday blues for me today, quite sleepy as I napped the same time with Adam as if I were to work night shift as well. 
and I only get to sleep at around 1+ ish. 

It's been a week since we got back from Paris where we had our first trip as hubs and wife. The trip if I were to sum it in one word, 
it would be tiring. Seriously! 

One word to describe Paris, cold! However one word to describe their metro, smelly! Oh my god. At first I couldn't understand 
why they can't do their business in the toilet, however after a while, I start to get why. Their toilet is like an office! They have their 
closing hours, even at the mall. Hahaha! One time, Adam had to pee so bad, we went everywhere to find a toilet just to find the toilet was 
closed, I mean how funny is that?! 

But overall, it was a lovely place. I love how you can get to anywhere with their metro. And I love how in every 500m or so, you can find 
an entrance to another metro. Their public transportation was so efficient (despite the smell) that I think you don't really need a car 
there. 

And the place we stayed was so convenient as it was near to the biggest station, Gare du Nord (to go to the airport) and Gare de E'st (to go 
everywhere else). Halal food is everywhere. Supermarkets too. Their selection of desserts for the McCafe is awesome. Way better than 
here. 

Eiffel Tower was and will always be the highlight of the trip, as we went there 3 times in a week, the first time to see it from far, the second to actually 
see it right in front of you and one at night. I love it when we just laid down at Champ de Mars (the park near Eiffel Tower) doing nothing, just looking 
at the sky and the Eiffel Tower, while eating Churros with Nutella. 

Disneyland too was awesome. Although it was freaking cold, but it was fun to actually set foot there, although I was pretty bummed I missed 
the parade as we were at Walt Disney Studio. =( 

It was a lovely honeymoon, despite me being cranky at times for being too tired too cold. Hehe, Thanks baby for making it happen. Next trip, 
island trip. My kind of honeymoon. I love you sayang! 

Foodies.

Am never a fan of cooking. And honestly I've never ever cooked before, the only simple things I can cook is aglio olio, spaghetti meatballs, meggi and things like that.

So now, I've developed this so called passion (?!) for cooking. Mostly because I want to please the husband. So let's see so far I've cooked for him:

Breakfast: french toast, scrambled egg, hotdogs and all. Nothing too difficult. Although I would love to try poached eggs. Soon I hope.

Dinner: first time i did was ayam masak kicap, something simple. Next was ayam masak paprik and sayur campur. So yesterday I really wanna try to cook teriyaki chicken and so I did! It's actually quite a simple recipe and bear in mind I did not use the teriyaki sauce off the rack okay! Purely homemade. :) and it turned out quite lovely! Sweet and nice although it is quite dry. Next time should let it berkuah instead of all kering. Alhamdulillah. Am so happy he likes it. And now am thinking of something else other than chicken; beef or fish perhaps. He requested for sweet and sour fish so probably I can do it this weekend and invite the family as well.

Two Eight

Last year, on my birthday, I was surprised with a proposal from my then boyfriend while we were in Alor Setar. I knew about it somehow because I found the D&P loyalty card while holding his wallet. That was one of the sweetest gesture he has ever made because he drove from KL to pick me up from Lumut and all the way to AS.

And this year, we celebrated my birthday as his wife. No words can explain how happy I am with that.

Last Monday...

In a nutshell. Awesome pre honeymoon albeit it was a short getaway. I love you husband!

16th February 2013

The day started quite late for us, we woke up at around 9.30 in the morning, bathed and went straight to the hall for rehearsal.
We knew that the aircond for the hall will be on around afternoon but what we didn’t expect is that it is the same for the electricity. Pity the PA system and ukulele guys who came early to rehearse but couldn’t due to the lack of electricity.

It was such a tiring session as it was so hot, and humid, and we had to rehearse for quite a number of times. Everyone was there helping around with the chairs and tables and all. The dais maker came around at midnight to complete around 80% of the decorations. Although it was hot, it was quite enjoyable as well as we get to sing along with the ukulele while they rehearse.

We finished quite late, around almost 4 in the evening, rushed to Mak Nid’s house to pick up some things and send it the house and bought lunch for us to eat at the hotel. We didn’t get the chance to lie down and rest as I had to shower and prepare myself for the makeup and hairstyling.

At around 5.30, both my makeup artist and hairstylist came to Eastin. I was dolled up by both at the same time so by around 7, it was all done. Farah helped me with the dress, Abg Alin dropped by to check up on things. And Adam continues to watch the tv while I was being made. So lucky! Hmph.

I super super love my hair during the reception. It looked so so cantik and so so worth it to hire her albeit it was a wee bit expensive.

Around 745 we went down to the lobby as we had drama regarding my shoes hahahaha! That was funny! Thank god Abg Alin was all prepared.

By 8.45, we are then allowed to walk in the hall with my family and all. I was surprised to see how full it was. Alhamdulillah. Thank you all for coming. And I can see that mom is happy with the event although there’s quite a drama before that.

It went by quite fast in my opinion, but it was just nice. We finished around 10 pm, and the most tiring session began; to shake hand and thanked people who came to our simple wedding. But I was so happy as I got to meet my long forgotten friends like those in Maser, my school friends and of course my colleagues.

I’m really happy with the outcome of both of the receptions. It was simple yet it was exactly how I want it to be, even better than what I’ve expected. Alhamdulillah. Much love to the backbone of the weddings; mom, Wanchu, Ayah Jor, Lope, Tante, Ira and the rest of the family for the support. Adam and I could never thank you enough. And with that, it is the end of what I feel like the most amazing night in my life.
